Daddy Dear

She hides alone inside her room
Frozen by her fear.
Daddy's yelling at mom again,
His anger brings her tears.
The little girl keeps wondering why,
mommy let's him near.
She prays tomorrow will come soon,
So daddy will see things clear.

Daddy dear, I still love you
I know it's not your fault
You're sick inside, don't like your life.
Do you blame me at all?

He's not around for Christmas time
birthdays or Halloween.
When she needs him most of all,
He disappears, it seems.
When he decides to come back home,
He promises he'll stay clean.
She wishes he could be the man,
she sees inside her dreams.

Daddy dear, I still love you
I know it's not your fault
You're sick inside, don't like your life.
Do you blame me at all?

He finally leaves, this time for good
To go or stay's the same.
He's drunk so much, she wonders if
he even knows her name.
Little girl-don't you cry,
Do not be ashamed.
Life will get better as time goes by,
Your pain is not in vain.

Daddy dear, I still love you
I know it's not your fault
I'm trying hard to understand
This is your fatal flaw.

She grows up and lives her life,
But trusting is hard to do.
She doesn't think a man can connect
and give her what she's due.
All those years spent looking for
a man to love her true
When all she wants is her daddy's love
a pure love through & through.

Daddy dear, I still love you
I know it's not your fault
I'm letting go of the pain
that lives inside my heart.
