"Are you sitting down, Movie Star?" John asked. "You got it! You're going to be working with Clint Eastwood."
From that point forward, it was prep time...researching, reading articles and books about J. Edgar Hoover, Martin Luther King Jr., the FBI and what the landscape of America was like in the 1960's. And of course, there was the wardrobe fitting, which I have to admit I LOVED! The girly, princess side of me loves playing dress up, especially in period costumes. The hats, the fur coats, lady like dresses and layers upon layers of under garments. Meeting with the costume designer, Deborah Hopper and her team was like stepping into Jackie O's closet.
I wasn't nervous when the day came to film. I felt almost serenely calm. As soon as I got on-set, I was whisked off to hair & make-up where they transformed me from a girl in skinny jeans, an oversized sweater and black leather boots into a sleek and pulled together 1960's civil rights activist. It was in the make-up chair that I met the actor who I'd be doing my love scene with. Yup. Love scene. Not my first. But definitely the first I've done directed by Dirty Harry.
Without giving too much away, I'll only say it was very interesting making out with a guy I'd just met that morning in front of a room full of 20 strangers and Clint Eastwood. Definitely not a normal day. But everyone on-set was very professional and wanted to make sure that I was comfortable and at ease. The cast & crew was on their A-game and it was exhilarating to work with people who were so good at what they do.
Sadly, I didn't get to meet Leo. He was shooting a scene later that afternoon that I was not in. But I'm sure we'll get a chance to do some work on the next movie we do together ;)
