
I think I may have officially lost it! Three weeks ago, I received a casting notice looking for women to participate in a bikini fitness competition. I like wearing bikinis. I'm an actress & dancer who lives near the beach in L.A., so I practically LIVE in my bikini. And I'm fit. So why not? Plus, as an out of work actor, I'm always looking for something to challenge me, and this seemed like a fun challenge both physically & mentally.
After submitting my photos and bio via email, I got a call saying that I had been invited to participate in the Shape Up America Figure competition in just 3 weeks! Time to get serious. So I immediately did the impossible....I removed carbs, sugar & wine from my diet. I increased my normal workout from 3 times per week to everyday. I was now doing an intense hour of cardio combined with an hour of strength training, followed by another hour of yoga or some sort of stretching or ballet-like calisthenics.
I also called my friend from back home in Pennsylvania, Cindy Hardy. Cindy is an incredible personal trainer and a figure competition veteran. I've seen the changes she's made to her body through hard work, diet changes, and pure determination. I decided if anyone could prep me from a distance, it would be Cindy.
So now, I'm just 3 1/2 days away from the show. My body hurts. I want a glass of wine. I want my brownie bites. And I want a huge bowl of pasta. I swear my sense of smell has amplified x 10 since I started this process. I definitely feel deprived, but I'm hoping it will all be worth it. Aside from my conversations & emails with Cindy, and the videos I've been watching online, I have NO idea what to expect on competition day. I'm working on my poses, learning how to walk in those clear heels, and getting ready to do my thing on Sunday afternoon. I have a feeling this will be the most interesting "role" I've played so far. Who knows, maybe I'll actually win this thing!
