In a city full of shiny dolls, make believe and flashy cars.
Everyone hoping to be a star. Sniffing cocaine & eating caviar.
But most won't even go that far....
You see-pretty dolls have deeper scars.
And when beauty fades, they take it hard.
No one to love. No happiness. Just a fleeting taste of success.
Hiding their identity, behind smoke & mirrors & misery.
The joy in life gone long ago. No purpose. No legacy to bestow.
Living in a fairytale land. Unaware of the sinking sand.
No connection to reality. Sometimes ignorance is normality.
Til an earthquake comes to shake the ground
Blind and deaf, they hear no sound.
But feel they will, and feel they do
As the world outside comes crashing through.
The shiny dolls are forced to see
There's a world beyond their shaded tree.
And by opening their eyes, maybe they could be
a branch of life feeding anothers leaf.

Love this post Shannon. It really is true about La La land. Too bad others don't seem to grasp the reality until it'los too late. SO happy you're on the right side of reality hon. :)
Hot damn! Great writing!
